JOB DESCRIPTION: Branch Security Officer

As a Branch Security Officer at G4S Cash Solutions (SA), you will play a critical role in maintaining effective branch security and ensuring that standard security operating procedures are followed by all relevant staff. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Branch Manager in creating a secure environment and safeguarding company assets, personnel, and clients’ interests. This includes conducting risk assessments, regular branch evaluations, and monitoring security equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct Risk Assessments: Perform comprehensive risk assessments of the customers’ areas to identify potential security vulnerabilities and threats.
  2. Branch Evaluations: Regularly evaluate branch security, adhering to a minimum requirement of once a month, and provide reports to Branch Management.
  3. Security Equipment Maintenance: Conduct regular checks of all security equipment, record maintenance activities in relevant registers on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  4. Alarm Systems: Test alarm systems daily and perform full checks once a week, coordinating with the National Control Centre and alarm monitoring company.
  5. Incident Reporting: Investigate and report on all cash losses or security incidents. Submit relevant details, including CCTV footage and paperwork, to the Group Security Department within 24 hours for losses below R1000.
  6. Access Control and Property Protection: Ensure effective and efficient access control procedures and property protection measures are in place.
  7. Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys for new customers, large payroll customers, and those dealing with large cash movements to assess premises’ safety.
  8. Reports and Registers: Prepare monthly branch evaluation security reports for Branch Management. Manage various registers, such as firearms, ammunition, equipment, ID cards, visitors cards, etc.
  9. Incident Management: Control the scene and take immediate action in case of robberies, refraining from communicating any information to the media.
  10. Equipment Control: Oversee the maintenance and service of fire-fighting equipment and ensure all security equipment is in working condition.
  11. Staff Training and Supervision: Train all staff on relevant standard operating procedures and policies related to security. Supervise Tactical Support Officers (T.S.O.’s) and ensure proper execution of their duties.
  12. Health and Safety: Participate in the development and implementation of departmental safety plans. Report safety incidents and follow-up on safety-related activities.

Job Description:

The position at G4S requires candidates to possess knowledge of G4S standard operating procedures, South African security legislation, G4S Operational Security Policy and procedures, and G4S HR Policy and procedures. Computer literacy, proficiency in Excel, MS Outlook, and Word, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong risk management, investigations, and report writing skills are essential for the role.

Eligibility:
