SAFETY AND SECURITY Fire Fighter
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Accredited Firefighter 2 Certificate
- Accredited Hazmat Operations Certificate
- Code B driver’s licence
- First Aid level 3 Certificate (in-dated) or higher qualification
registered with the HPCSA - Wildland Firefighter 1and Respiratory Protection Certificates
(advantageous) - Driver Pump Operator Certificate (advantageous)
- Pass fitness assessments
- Minimum of 3 years continuous firefighting experience
inclusive of training period - No criminal record
Key Performance Areas - Carries out firefighting and emergency operations
- Preparing for emergency incidents and protection to
reduce the incidents and severity of fires and providing a
safer environment for fire-fighters and communities - Performing basic level maintenance training on fire service
appliances and equipment to ensure operational readiness
of such equipment - Performs basic administrative functions
- Managing training and skills development and the transfer
of skills and knowledge.
Candidates who pass the fitness assessment will be required to: - pass a behavioural interview
- have their fingerprints taken for the purpose of checking
criminal records - undergo a medical evaluation
- undergo a compulsory drug test
Special Conditions: - This post currently requires incumbent to work shifts Must be prepared to work at any fire station within the areas
of jurisdiction, as determined by the Chief Fire Officer - incumbent be physically fit and able bodied
- Required to wear uniform and personal protective clothing
- Operational Allowance
Note: - Successful candidates may be required to attend local
protocol / refresher / conversion training at our Fire Training
Academy before deployment to Operation
