SAFETY AND SECURITY Fire Fighter
Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Accredited Firefighter 2 Certificate
  • Accredited Hazmat Operations Certificate
  • Code B driver’s licence
  • First Aid level 3 Certificate (in-dated) or higher qualification
    registered with the HPCSA
  • Wildland Firefighter 1and Respiratory Protection Certificates
    (advantageous)
  • Driver Pump Operator Certificate (advantageous)
  • Pass fitness assessments
  • Minimum of 3 years continuous firefighting experience
    inclusive of training period
  • No criminal record
    Key Performance Areas
  • Carries out firefighting and emergency operations
  • Preparing for emergency incidents and protection to
    reduce the incidents and severity of fires and providing a
    safer environment for fire-fighters and communities
  • Performing basic level maintenance training on fire service
    appliances and equipment to ensure operational readiness
    of such equipment
  • Performs basic administrative functions
  • Managing training and skills development and the transfer
    of skills and knowledge.
    Candidates who pass the fitness assessment will be required to:
  • pass a behavioural interview
  • have their fingerprints taken for the purpose of checking
    criminal records
  • undergo a medical evaluation
  • undergo a compulsory drug test
    Special Conditions:
  • This post currently requires incumbent to work shifts Must be prepared to work at any fire station within the areas
    of jurisdiction, as determined by the Chief Fire Officer
  • incumbent be physically fit and able bodied
  • Required to wear uniform and personal protective clothing
  • Operational Allowance
    Note:
  • Successful candidates may be required to attend local
    protocol / refresher / conversion training at our Fire Training
    Academy before deployment to Operation
